(my - now - cactus/succulent garden, waiting to be planted a few weeks back)
On Thursday, the mister & I thought: "Why don't we just go camping somewhere on the weekend?Last minute? Like we usually do!" (If you know us, some summers it may seem as if this is all we did). Only, this time - we decided - wait! Voice of reason! Camping is cool and all, but why don't we not cram every second of our weekend up with something? Why don't we just chill in our getting-cleaner-and-less-packed home, for a change? Enjoy being here and hanging out together?
I'm enjoying doing nothing, lately.
Feels kinda weird for me, after two years of crazy, but less and less weird everyday.
So instead we slept in. We toddled around all day, finding PS3 games (it's been a while since we've played anything!). I found some for my DS, too - used games are a pretty rad deal. We played through the records we nabbed at a garage sale 6 months ago that we haven't had a chance to listen to, yet: an unlabelled Rolling Stones greatest hits album, Grand Funk, and Ted Nugent for the win! We pretended to slo-mo run the food to the barbeque to the thumping rythym of 'For a Few Dollars More' soundtrack. We made chocolate chip pancakes and listened to Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison while we poured the syrup. I fixed up my garden and planted a bit more mint. I attempted to make Mojitos. And we walked around holding hands for a few hours, laying on some grass for a while in between. I watched waaaay too much 'Orange is The New Black' (I'm hooked!).
You just need that some weekends, you know?
Hope you & yours had fun, staycation or not. :)
