Vintage Brooch Embellies.

Last week there was a lil feature up on the Sassafras blog about their lovely Vintage Brooch embellishments - I stole one from my scrapbook pile to hopefully glue a pin on for my cardigans, they're that cute!

I definitely fell in love with their vintage sensibility - they're just like those lovely enamel brooches I'm always hunting for at the thrift shop!

Here's the quick lil scrapbook page I made using them:

It's a simpler page, for me - I was practicing speedy scrapbooking, you could say, but I still love how it turned out (and I still squished paint +sewing, on there)! The photo is me as 'Michelle Dearie', one of the shots we styled and got dressed up for during Tif's Dottie Angel workshop in Seattle last year. :) So fun!

I made a few lil pages (a few weeks ago, now)...
I'm loving these colors together, at the moment. :)

I'm got to thinking while working with the 'Starters' collection that it really lets you coordinate every which color you want together on cool neutral bases - it's kind of inspired my upcoming (hopefully soon!) blog design. I'm thinking I need something neutral that can grow with me - a little more grown up and sophisticated (read: won't get sick of it in 3 months), that really let's the colors on all my colorful photos pop off the page. :) I'm excited to get a-designing it!

I'm always torn about which season is my favorite - fall or summer.
I do love fall, but when summer rolls around I forget all about it. :)

I felt kinda funny when I went to splash paint around on this page and the paint I felt drawn to was pink  - on a boy page. But you know what? I think it ended up still looking kinda masculine...what do you think?

And I *love* how that button is about to fall off the page...lol. :)

Everytime I post a page up here I just want to go make another one! he he.

A Little Sketch.

Here's my take on it:

I find sketches a little scary, sometimes - I think I say this everytime I post about one. I'm always afraid I'll get stuck 'in-the-box', if that makes sense. Like I'm stifled before I even begin - but they are helpful little things, sketches. This one was rather fun, and kind of busted my bubble on that thinking.

PS - I still love my teeny wedding-in-the-park 4 years later. :)

Also, I'm crazy loving this color combo, right now.

Sewing Your Pages...

I have a little 'Technique Tuesday' post up over on the Sassafras blog, today! Hop over there to see the full post (and my sewing-a-title tips & process), and here are some peeks & the page I made:

Paper Crush is my faaaavorite Sass collection, lately - it's so sweet! I want to use it on everything!! :) lol. The photo on this page is of mister husband and I a few summers back in Banff, Alberta - it's one of my faves, too. Everything but the paper doily is Sassafras.

I was trying to keep the page clean and simple, which didn't really work - lol. I mean, it was a fast one - but then I used a too-small brush to splatter the blue paint, and it got a little crazy - and then I started sewing - and then I couldn't keep the edges white, so I had to paint them. lol.

I'm thinking I might do a mini paper + paint class sometime this summer as my first one - is anybody interested in the way I paint my pages? It's suuuuper fun!! :)

Anyhoo - I'm off for a bike ride this morning, a strong coffee, and getting lotsa work done before we head off to a Kid Rock concert tonight! I'm not the biggest Kid Rock fan, but hubby got two free tickets from work yesterday, and live anything is always good, right?

Did you know there was a national scrapbook day? I know some of my readers don't play with paper - so, in case you didn't know, today's the day! Lots of festivities go on, today online & in stores - I've been to long scrapook crops and taken advantage of many sales on this day, in years past! he he. Yay!
