Quiet.

I've been super-quiet here, this week. Reflecting on things. Just, busy.

My mom was in town for a few days (yay!), so we made a yummy dinner and caught up and went to see Goran Bregovic in concert on Thursday, too - it was seriously amazing! (Somebody posted a clip of my fave part, here). I've never heard such a cool culmination of sounds altogether under one roof, before! :)

I'm scrambling a little to catch up on homework and assignments now, though - cuz it felt so good to have a break from it for a few days...lol.

Also, I ran into this today - which I love being a Kirsten fan.
I was reminded that I miss her being in movies.

It totally reminded me of these one minute 'self portraits' that I'd seen of Kip's (via Kara), which I kind of love, too:

They both really connect to this essay I read in English class recently, too (Ann Beattie's 'Where Characters Come From') - she goes over the idea that people reveal themselves more when they don't think they're being watched, and that when they know they are being watched, true natures & actions can be not-so-true. I don't know, these feel pretty telling to me...

On My Mind...

With all this nature-studying I've been doing for school, it's no wonder it's on my mind a lot these days (I'm just finishing up a presentation I have to give on a nature-inspired project tomorrow morning, so it's right there in the forefront).

In class last week, we had to make a reusable item from those paper coffee cup sleeves - you know the ones, they come around every cup you buy. I used to keep them in a pile and reuse them when I could if I'd forgotten my fabric one or my reusable cup...

Anyhoo - we came up with - in an hour - the idea that they should be foldable, and when folded create a little starter seed pot. Here are our tests:

You can kind of see a few of our tests, here - we made a bunch of different variations to get 1-2 final designs and then 'planted' some little plants for our presentation of them...he he. I'm totally hoping to make these, myself, next time I get a paper sleeve: I kind of wish they came perforated to make this easily possible with every one!

Actually: I'm wishing that coffee houses everywhere world-wide would ban those darn horrible paper cups in the first place and force everybody to have/use a reusable cup. Did you know those paper cups aren't recyclable because they have plastic lining in them? Yep. Just think of how many everyday are thrown away. It's gross! It could be solved so simply, too. (sigh).

Dead Like Me + Scrapbooking.

I started watching Dead Like Me the other day, and I *heart* George.
She kinda makes me wish my name was George. lol.

I almost died laughing when her boss pulls her into the scrapbook circle and we get to see her 'imaginary scrapbook'. Hopefully you find it a bit funny, too?

I have a few other small posts to put up, here, soon - but today I'm at the studio working on some tv. Lately, Thursday to Sunday is super crazy busy these days and I sleep for about 3 hours a night...ugh. all my homework is due on Monday/Tuesday, so I'm kicking myself that I'm not more organized always.

This page was made from the funniest old early '90's photos from a trip to Drumheller, AB - I love them so. I'll have to share them one of these days...

This one feels pretty simple for me, but the colors have enough 'Oomph' on their own!
