Or pirate stitchery?
I've been catching up on a few cross-stitching/embroidery projects for display in the pirate kitchen this week. I always do my crafts in bouts, it seems - a lot of scrapbooking at once, a lot of sewing at once, etc. So it's always fun to get back to hand-sewing cuz I love it so.
Here's a sneak at a Ol Shifty the Pirate before I finished him up:
No joke - I started this at least a year ago and all I had left to do was the skull on his hat! lol. Slacker. I found it when I cleaned out my workspace last week! :)
I also did this little ditty that I got the idea for back in the summer: The little odd story behind it:
We walked by this little art store in Victoria and it had a sign in the window that said 'yes we can ship' - I, being the stickler for punctuation I am, misread it due to the lack of punctuation. They meant 'Yes, we can ship' with this sign in their window, but the absence of a comma left me to interpret it as 'Yes we can, ship'. As if a ship was being encouraged or something. And, aha! The idea was born to stitch this for my home. lol.
Proof inspiration can come from - literally - anywhere? :) How do you read it?
Either way, I think it's just enough nonsensical-ness to fit in with the various embroidered pirate things and prints and repurposed brass ship plates on my kitchen shelf. :) Happy!
Anyhoo - they're both all done and framed up, now. Today I have to scrapbook a little & work on the next walnut ink tutorial (which I hope to have up tomorrow...), hang stuff up in the kitchen, clean said kitchen, do laundry, and head out to one of my last Printmaking classes in what may be pre-Olympic chaos central aka Granville Island. lol....
Happy day! :) More soon.
