Well, hello! So - it's about time I posted some vacation photos from our week away, no? I know our families are waiting for the photos to be posted - so here goes nothing! Our week away in Victoria/Tofino + a little overview of what we did:
To start things off, we got some 'Old Time' photos done in Victoria - I have fond memories of this type of picture my cousins & family got done years ago, guess I always wanted to get one, cuz that was one of the first things we did there! lol...They turned out really funny!
The first one is about the extent of my acting skills...ha ha. The guy told me to act surprised/shocked, and I couldn't stop laughing. We all cracked up when we saw it, so we had to get it. :) lol...
We did a lot of touristy stuff this time around, starting with posing by some Totem Poles and then going to the Royal BC Museum - they had a great exhibit from the British museum (items from all over the world, including old Greek statues and such - lovely!).
And we went to the super-cheesy wax museum:

(This is Madam Tussaud, the lady the museum is named after - she used to cast wax heads from corpse heads. Eew...)
And is this not the creepiest version of 'Happy' you've ever seen?? Egads! I think they just used the evil witches face for him, here...scary!
After a few days visiting with my cousin and being touristy in Victoria, we drove out to Tofino with my cousin, Lisa, Lee and his brother Bobby and went camping out there for 3 nights. The weather was a little iffy, and pretty cold at night, but it got really nice and sunny most days, too! Yay!
We stayed at Bella Pacifica campground, on MacKenzie beach - it was lovely, even though the first day we got there, a whole slew of really smelly dead squid had washed up (the smell of which was not pleasant at all!), but eventually it died down and we got to hang out on the beach....lol. We had quite the set-up at camp:

The first day we were there, we all headed down to Long Beach, cuz it's my very favorite and pretty and all that, but we got there and it was crazy windy, and actually kind of cold..or course...lol. It was still gorgeous, anyway! :)

The next day, Lisa and I went whale watching (Z took a surfing lesson, and the boys went golfing). We walked into town, shopped a little (there's tons of rad organic clothe shops, a cute second-hand store, a book store, and yummy coffee in little Tofino) and made our way to the whale watching boat, and off we went:
(This is a grey whale - the water was too shallow for them to really surface or lift their tails up high, but they were awesome to see!)
We also saw some huge Sea Lions - the trip took us around and out to see a group of 7-8 Orcas (including a jump-happy little baby Orca), a couple of grey whales, Puffin island, the Sea Lions, and then we headed back in. :) So fun!
We chilled out for a few more days, and then everyone else drove home and we hopped on over to stay in these cute little cabins:

And then Z and I went on a whale-watching/Hot Springs Cove trip, too! It started out to be very grey, but the day got gorgeous and sunny! And we sat in the front seat of the boat, which was crazy bumpy, but really cool!

We stopped to see some Humpback whales first, and then some grey whales (they're so hard to get good pictures of!!) and then we were dropped off at Hot Springs Cove, it's a little 30-minute hike in to the Springs, so we goofed of a lil and enjoyed the scenery on the way:
And we finally got to the Springs - totally natural, crazy hot! You literally have to climb down jagged rocks to get into the pools. :) So cool!
And then we walked back to the boat, hopped back in our front seat, and went waaay far out to see some Orcas:
This Orca is 43 years old, the guide was telling us! His fin is all jagged and missing a chunk on the side, I think it totally looks like a shark fin in this picture...lol.. :)
And then there's that video in the last post below, too. :)
Anyhoo - that was our trip! Lotsa beach/camping/relaxing/whale-watching...lol. I put the whole slew of pictures right here, so if you'd like to see a few more that's where you can find them!
Off I go to start my day - I'm having a blast making my portfolio website - it's so exciting to see it coming together!! I have some pages to post, too, and I'll be making my friend a wedding present/posting a new monster print + sticky notes, and more fun stuff very soon! :) I need to watch 'Sunshine Cleaning' and '500 Days of Summer' very soon, too! Til then, happy day!
